The GED® Test
About the GED® Test
The GED test is computer-based and has four subjects:
  1. Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA)
  2. Mathematical Reasoning
  3. Science
  4. Social Studies

It is offered in English and Spanish

Visit www.ged.com to complete registration and schedule testing.
What to Bring on the Day of Test
Testers MUST be Texas residents and bring with them at least one valid government-issued form of identification.
Cost of GED® Test
The four content areas cost $33.75 each, for a total of $135. If an exam is failed, the test-taker can retake the exam two times within twelve months of the original failed attempt.

After the first three attempts, the test-taker will have to wait an additional 90 days to retake the exam.
Passing the GED® Test
The new GED® test performance scores are:
  • Pass/High School Equivalency (Min Passing Score 145)
  • GED® College Ready (Min Passing Score 165)
  • GED® College Ready + Credit (Min Passing Score 175)

The Texas GED® testing program requires all test-takers under the age of 18 to complete additional paperwork to be eligible to schedule a test. Visit http://tea.texas.gov/gedforms.html for more information.
