Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency (TxCHSE)

The State Board of Education (SBOE) voted January 29, 2016 to award contracts to three separate companies to provide high school equivalency assessments.

Test takers may select from of the following three assessments:
GED(r) Test
HiSET exam
Test Assessing Secondary Completion(TASC) Test

Upon the successful completion of a single provider's exams, the test taker will be issued a State of Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency.
The test taker chooses which test series to take.

The high school equivalency assessment serves as the basis for the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to issue the Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency (TxCHSE). TEA is the only agency in Texas authorized to issue the Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency.  Tests may only be administered by authorized testing centers.
